Sealing a two two piece catalyst chamber is tricky, mainly due to temperature cycling. Copper is a great gasket material, but it has a greater coefficient of than the stainless it is mated with. This causes deformation as it heats up and may require re-torquing of the bolts after each use to account for this.
An alternative long used with high high compression, automotive applications is the copper o-ring. Even
Stainless wire may not have the long-term retorque requirements of copper wire in this application because the expansion rate matches the chamber. Multiple o-rings may be desirable, offset the gaps 180 degrees.
